The defensive balance exercise

Description:
Check out this video featuring USPTA Master Professional Emilio Sanchez Vicario demonstrating a drill that will improve your students’ footwork, movement and balance in both defensive and offensive situations.

Tip:

This week’s tip features USPTA Master Professional Emilio Sanchez Vicario presenting a drill used at his academy on a regular basis. The exercise involves hitting a combination of defensive groundstrokes and offensive approach shots while maintaining good balance. The defensive shots are hit crosscourt and the offensive shots are hit down the line. Key points for this drill are good footwork and movement, good balance, proper weight transfer, hitting the ball in the upper-level strike zone and good recovery. The drill can be tailored to fit any skill level as demonstrated in the video.
