Recognizing strengths and weaknesses in shot selection

Description:
Coaches Jim Parker, Lorenzo Beltrame, Brett Hobden and David T. Porter, Ed.D., explain why it is essential for a player to know both his and his opponent’s strengths and weaknesses and how that influences their shot selection.

Tip:

How does recognizing strengths and weaknesses relate to the shot selection in a player’s game?

Being able to recognize your own strengths and weaknesses as well as your opponent’s is essential to building a successful game plan. Ideally, you want to choose your tactics based on your strengths and attack the opponent’s weaknesses. Knowing where you can get hurt and where you can hurt the opponent are key points in your shot selection.
