Drill – Numbers
Description: Here is USPTA Elite Professional Mark Bey with a fun drill emphasizing point play and decision making.
Tip:
We all have our favorite drills we use day in and day out with our students that have definitely paid dividends over the years. Nonetheless, it’s always handy to have a new drill you can add, modify and use in your next practice session.
This week we have USPTA Elite Professional Mark Bey with a fun drill in which the coach dictates the duration of the point play. If you have students that typically stay in the point too long and hesitate to close it out, or perhaps they go for too much right off the bat and don’t have the patience to build up the point, this drill will have you assist them in decision making by calling out the number of shots you want them to hit in that particular point. If the player has an opportunity to close the point sooner, he has the option to do so.
Having a variety of new drills and games that you can implement into your practice sessions is important as you want your players to feel challenged and have fun while trying something new every day.
