Breathing demonstration

Description:
USPTA Professional Brett Hobden explains why it is important for a player to exhale at the point of contact. In addition to improving a player’s breathing throughout the point, exhaling helps release energy into the swing and improves intensity.

Tip:

When we watch professional matches we notice that some players exhale loudly as they hit the ball. Breathing out on the hit is very important. It helps to release energy into the shot and allows the body to stay relaxed. When you hold your breath as you hit, you create tension and minimize your power and flow in striking the ball. Whether you exhale quietly or more intensely, making a sound or not, the goal needs to be the same – to release the energy and be relaxed and loose when you strike the ball.
