Description: USPTA Master Professional Emilio Sanchez Vicario demonstrates the four V patterns coaches and players can use in hand-fed drills. Each V pattern helps develop defensive and offensive shot selection, and each drill can help a player develop footwork, movement and physical fitness.

Tip:

We cannot stress enough the importance of footwork and movement in tennis. A key to successful stroke production is being able to get to the right place at the right time while maintaining good balance. In addition, the endurance that is required for a player to last throughout long matches is many times a challenging factor.

This week we have Emilio Sanchez-Vicario demonstrating a sequence of hand-feeding drills that will help players improve their footwork and movement on the court. The exercises work on different movement patterns – emphasizing good balance and hitting the ball in the upper-level strike zone (above waist level). Increasing the number of repetitions will also help players improve their endurance on the court.

These exercises can be performed with players of all levels and ages by simply scaling your feeds according to their level. Advanced players can do more repetitions with more challenging feeds.
