How can a coach relate practice to a game situation?

Description:
This video clip on the tactical component of tennis addresses the question of how coaches can create game-like situations during practice. USPTA Professional Brett Hobden explains the importance of relating practices to game situations and how experiencing them in practice can help a player be comfortable when those same situations develop in a match.

Tip:
When faced with a competitive situation in a match, it is important for a player to know how to best select his tactics and shots to play the next point or game. The key to being successful in a competitive situation is to practice game-like situations. This will allow the player to get into the mind-set of how to play and win the next point. The tactics chosen and shots selected should be sound decisions that reflect the situation the player faces. As with most aspects in the game of tennis, the more experience a player has in these kind of situations, the better prepared he will be because he will know what tactics work best and be comfortable when faced with real match situations.
