Improve your volley – The brick wall drill
Description: Having trouble handling those powerful incoming balls when at the net? Here is USPTA Master Professional Feisal Hassan with a few tips that will help your students improve their volleys.
Tip:
Handling the powerful incoming balls when at the net is a challenging task for many players. We’ve all seen players get intimidated by the speed of the incoming ball and not be able to hold on to proper technique. Or we’ve seen poor reaction skills causing them to be late, or even more common, we’ve seen players try to go for too much, spreading balls all over.
The early recognition of ball characteristics such as height, speed and spin is key to having great volleys. A player must understand what kind of ball he is responding to and what his options are in that particular situation. In this week’s tip we have USPTA Master Professional Feisal Hassan showing you some pointers on how to handle fast-paced incoming balls when at the net.
