Description: There is no question that tennis is a game of movement. Check out Mark Kovacs, Ph.D., talking about the types of movement on the tennis court.

Tip:

Movement and footwork are the foundation for building solid technique in tennis. A player can develop great form on his or her groundstrokes but will not be very successful if he or she can’t move to the ball efficiently and be balanced at contact.

Tennis requires lots of multidirectional movement including lateral, diagonal and up and back. It requires quickness, explosiveness and strength while being fluid. Work with your players on developing all these movement patterns for the different situations that occur during match play. Hitting the ball becomes so much easier when you move well.
