Romanian Davis Cup drill
Description:
This video clip is an excerpt of the USPTA’s “Sweet Spot” featuring Wayne Bryan who explains how to perform the Romanian Davis Cup drill, which is a volley drill in which players shuffle side to side while hitting volleys back and forth. Professional players Bob and Mike Bryan demonstrate the drill.
Tip:
Having great volleys is critical to playing a successful game of doubles. Players need to have excellent footwork and racquet control in order to adjust and hit effective volleys. The world’s No. 1 doubles team, Bob and Mike Bryan, demonstrates their favorite doubles drill. Two of the world’s famous doubles players of the ‘70s, Ilie Nastase and Ion Tiriac, used to practice the same drill back in the day, says Wayne Bryan. This fun drill teaches independence of the hands and feet and the adjustments needed to hit different types of balls.
