Run around side to side drill

Description:
Former ATP player Emilio Sanchez Vicario demonstrates the hand-fed run-around drill in which players move side to side hitting inside-in forehands and backhands. This drill can be tailored to all levels of players based on how the ball is fed.

Tip:

How many times have you witnessed your players missing easy shots because they were either too far from or too close to the ball? How many times did you see them doing too much or too little with their feet and not controlling their bodies? Perhaps they were doing a great job getting to the ball, but their balance was off.

Footwork and movement along with balance and body control are key points in tennis. Our sport requires multidimensional movement capability, and players must be able to move in various directions quickly while maintaining good balance.

If developed and used correctly, balanced footwork and movement consumes less energy for a player during a long match, thus creating less fatigue. It is important to maintain great body control while moving quickly and getting into position.
