Tactics to use against an aggressive baseliner – Isolate the weakness
Description: Although aggressive players have solid strokes on both sides, one side is always weaker than the other. Learn how to spot and attack the opponent’s weakness.
Tip:
Being able to recognize the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses is one of the important tools a player needs for his game plan. Even though many times the opponent might look well-rounded and unbeatable, there might be a shot or a specific part of his game that is not as great and can be exploited. Is his/her backhand weaker than his forehand? Does he/she respond well to high balls from above the shoulder? Does he/she struggle when hitting on the run? Try paying close attention to your opponent’s abilities next time you compete and look for those areas that you need to act upon. Being able to maximize your strengths and exploit the opponent’s weaknesses is key in winning more matches.
