Certain tactics work best for a player when he is caught out of position. Here, Rick Macci suggests that players lob when out of position, aim higher when off balance, and focus on just getting the ball back and giving the opponent an extra shot to hit.

Defensive lobs should be chosen when one is either out of position, or noticeably off balance. Lobbing not only increase your percentage chance of getting the ball into play when in these circumstances, but also forces the opponent to hit another shot. When off balance, or out of position it’s best to choose high percentage shots than to attempt impressive, lower percentage shots.
